MALAGA INTERNATIONAL COURSE ON SURGERY FOR CHOLESTEATOMA BY OBLITERATION Malaga, 18th- 20th, November 2021 (2)

Malaga, 18th- 20th, November 2021

ENT DEPT UNIVERSITY OF MALAGA

Over the last years the use of the obliteration technique in ear surgery has become a worldwide recognized way to address some important middle ear pathologies, in particular cholesteatoma. When performed according to certain rules this technique offers excellent anatomical results and very low rates of recurrent and residual disease. Nowadays thanks to the non-EP Diffusion Weighted MR- Imaging a safe long-term follow-up can be offered to our patients.
In our fully equipped brand-new temporal bone skills-lab of the University of Malaga we will teach you all the practical skills needed to perform a state of the art obliteration.
In theoretical lectures the main principles of the technique will be explained .
The radiological pre-operative work-up and postoperative follow-up will be presented, these are indeed a necessary prerequisite for safely applying the obliteration technique and follow-up.
Hands on training on fresh frozen cadaver temporal bones is combined with lectures on the theoretical background. Live surgery will give the participants a view on real live circumstances and further practical details. Discussions about cases presented by the staff or by the participants will be promoted.
